Snap Shear Machine
The Snap Shear is an essential safety mechanism installed at the entry of the pre-finishing or finishing mill. It serves to instantly cut incoming hot material during misrolls or emergency conditions, thereby preventing damage by stopping misfed bars from reaching the rolling stands at high speed.
Operation:
- Strategically positioned near the mill entry, it features a pneumatically actuated dual-blade system—one blade above and one below the hot bar.
- Compressed air drives both blades simultaneously to sever material at high temperatures (approximately 800–950 °C), ensuring quick interruption and protection of downstream equipment.
